Monitor calibration usually comes as the 8bit LUT factory-based calibration of the color gamut some high-tech devices launched these days have either 10-bit LUT or 14 bit 3DDD LUT color calibration and this makes them useful for professional photo editing and graphic designing. But if you plan to use your monitor for normal multitasking and official work color calibration is not a required trait.

As we have said earlier the usefulness of color calibration is desired for graphic designing or professional photo editing monitors or CAD OR CAM operational devices. But if you have to simply play games be it casual games or competitive FPS games, color calibration is an absolute addition, not a necessity.

What does calibrating your monitor do?
Calibrating a monitor means adjusting the color combinations of the device to set them to custom value or the standard value, the way you like them more. Color calibration requires measuring the color displayed on screens and this will require the services of a measuring instrument called a spectrophotometer or scientifically named as the calorimeter.
How often should you calibrate your monitor?
If you decide to calibrate you monitor then you should at least calibrate it every 2 to 6 week to ensure the accuracy of the display. For calibrating, after measuring the colors on the screen, software analysis is run to adjust the calibration according to desires values changing the sharpness, contrast, and pitch of the colors along with the depth and resolution of the pixels on the screen.
